CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. – A 15-year-old student in Fayetteville is in serious trouble after the sheriff’s office says he told classmates he was going to shoot up Cape Fear High School on Tuesday.

The student was detained and taken to Cumberland Regional Juvenile Detention Center after being served with a Secure Custody Order. He has been charged on a Juvenile Petition with Making a False Report Concerning Mass Violence on Educational Property.

Their identity will not be released because of their age.

The sheriff’s office says they would like to thank those who came forward to report the threat.

All threats of this kind, regardless of perceived credibility, should always be reported to authorities.
