Now, rain intensity has slacked off as Monday's low pressure moves away towards the northeast and a cold front sweeps across the state. Light showers will continue through a cool day and night. Rain will taper off tonight as skies remain overcast and lows fall into the upper 30s to low 40s.

Another area of low pressure looks to impact the Carolinas, but not until Thursday. Wednesday will feature cloudy and cool conditions with a few light showers. Afternoon highs will likely peak in the 40s for much of the area.

Rain coverage and intensity will increase through the morning Thursday as the low tracks through the region. The low will track northeast through the southeastern United States producing widespread rain with several pockets of heavy rain.

There's some possibility of some sleet mixing in with the rain for the Triad region before sunrise Thursday morning. However, accumulation is not expected. We'll continue to monitor.

After another good soaking, Thursday conditions dry off quickly. Skies will clear Friday allowing for the sun to return and conditions will remain fair through the weekend.
