GREENE COUNTY, N.C. - A Greene County deputy is recovering following a shooting and a high speed chase.

  • A multi-county chase ended in Greene County.
  • The driver has been identified as Devin Bigler.
  • Both Bigler and an officer were shot and the officer has been released.

This chase covered multiple counties and all started around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in Wilson County.

Eventually, the chase reached Greene County, where deputies were able to intervene.

Authorities identified the driver as Devin Bigler.

They say during the chase, a deputy got in front of Bigler's car, which caused him to crash into the patrol car.

Once deputies surrounded the car, they say Bigler showed a firearm, which resulted in him being shot.

A deputy was also shot and transported to the hospital, but he's since been released and is expected to be okay.

The suspect remains in the hospital.

As is typical with officer-involved shootings, the SBI is investigating.
