RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA -- Wednesday will be the last day for highs in the 70s for at least the next week.  A cold front that is slowly making its way through North Carolina will usher in cooler air to the region starting Wednesday night.

Showers with that front will come to an end Wednesday morning.  Clearing is then expected through midday.  That will allow for plenty of sunshine in the afternoon as highs top out in the mid 70s.

Look for clear skies Wednesday night with temperatures dropping to the mid and upper 40s by sunrise Thursday morning.   We will see a full day of sunshine Thursday but highs only warm to the low and mid 60s.

Thursday night into Friday morning will be even cooler.   Lows could drop to the upper 30s for the first time since April for locations around the Triangle and to the north.
