We started the new week with a few clouds and a few showers, and later this week, we'll see more clouds and showers.

Monday brought a few showers and more above average temperatures across the area. This tropical feel to the atmosphere will continue through much of this week.

As Hurricane Michael continues to move northward from the Gulf of Mexico toward the southeastern United States, even more moisture will get pulled across North Carolina. Shower chances will increase on Tuesday but they will increase even more by Wednesday.

On its current forecast, Michael is expected to move through the Carolinas on Thursday as a tropical storm. This is when we will see the greatest rain and wind potential from the system. Several inches of rain are expected across the region and some localized flooding may occur due to grounds remaining saturated due to Hurricane Florence. Winds may also bring down trees as well.

By Friday, the storm is forecast to move away from the state with more sun and dry conditions developing.
