RED SPRINGS, NC - Three weeks later and some Red Springs residents are wondering where the help is after Hurricane Florence.

  • Some residents are having to wear boots outside
  • Hoke County officials say a nearby canal is clogged with storm debris
  • They say they aren't sure exactly when things will return back to normal

Neighbors on Goose Pond Road have to wear boots just to get into their homes. Emergency management crews in Hoke County say a nearby canal is clogged with storm debris causing water not to recede in yards. County officials say the area is dealing with beavers creating dams and causing more frustration for neighbors.

"It's just like things from the river and woods come up from up under the ground," Red Springs resident Karen Berry said. "With the water just accumulating with it, it just floated up everywhere."

Emergency management officials say they aren't sure about a timeline for when residents' yards will return back to normal. In the meantime, they have installed drainage tools in yards.
