High pressure has controlled the weather across North Carolina this week and with it, we've seen lots of sunshine and some very warm temperatures.

High pressure will remain in the area for the next few days but a cold front will also drop closer to the state on Friday. The front will not move through the region but it will get close enough to give us a slight chance for a few isolated showers and storms.

As for the weekend, there is small chance for a few showers on Saturday. On Sunday, we should see dry weather with more very warm weather.

This warm weather pattern is expected to continue well into next week with very little chance for precipitation.

In the tropics, Leslie has weakened to a tropical storm. The system is expected to turn eastward in the Atlantic by the weekend.
