SPRING LAKE, N.C. -- Town leaders in Spring Lake are hoping to get more help from the Federal Emergency Management Agency so residents can get back on their feet.

  • Leaders met with FEMA in hopes of setting up a resource center in the area Tuesday
  • Some residents are doubtful FEMA will help get their homes back
  • The FEMA application deadline is Oct. 18

Tuesday morning, leaders met with FEMA in hopes of setting up a resource center in the area. Dozens of neighbors have come after the storm to find their homes have so much flood damage that they've lost everything.

FEMA said they've been going around to homes in the area handing out applications, but resident, Clifton Hall isn't sure if applying will get his house back.

"I know that they're going to be beneficial to us, but I don't know how much even if we only get a few thousand dollars," Hall said. "I don't know what we're going to get. But I'm not going to raise my hopes too high."

Anyone wanting to apply in person for FEMA assistance in Cumberland County can visit the recovery center at 1225 Ramsey St. in Fayetteville. Hours are Monday through Friday from 9a.m. to 7p.m. and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The FEMA application deadline is Oct. 18.
