The calendar might say it's "fall and October" but the thermometer says "it's summer".

High pressure has been in control of the weather across North Carolina for the past few days and it's going to control our weather for the next few days.

This system will set us up for a few clouds Tuesday night, and with light winds, a few areas could see some patchy fog during the overnight hours into Wednesday morning. On Wednesday, skies will be partly cloudy with daytime highs once again above average.

Mostly sunny skies and more warm temperatures are in the forecast for Thursday.

By Friday, a cold front may drop close to the state. This might give us a small chance for a few afternoon showers and storms. The above average temperatures are expected through the weekend into early next week.

In the tropics, Leslie is forecast to strengthen a little over the next few days but it is expect to remain well away from the United States.
