EDEN, N.C. -- A Piedmont Triad company has been awarded three contracts with a potential value of $88 million to make body armor for the military and the Drug Enforcement Administration.

KDH Defense System Inc. has been in the Rockingham County community of Eden since 2009. The contract is for five years, something that will help drive the city's economy.

"Anytime you have someone hiring, it enables families to live here, to work, to play here,” said Economic Development Director for Eden Mike Dougherty. To take advantage of our amenities, certainly accept our commercial economy, so it's always good."

KDH Defense System Inc. will host an open house Thursday, Sept. 27, from 3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at their headquarters at 750 Fieldcrest Road in Eden. They are hiring all positions, skilled and unskilled.
