Florence continues to track across the northeast part of the county and we will continue to feels its influence. Look for scattered showers and thunderstorms across central and eastern North Carolina for Monday night and Tuesday.

It will not be the widespread heavy rain of the past few days, we’ll see showers and thunderstorms scattered around the area. But they still could produce locally heavy downpours along with frequent lightning.

With these downpours is the threat for more flash flooding. That is especially the case for locations in southeastern North Carolina where at least 20 to 30 inches of rain has fallen since Thursday.

Sunny weather will finally return Wednesday and continue through at least the end of this week.

Despite the dry forecast for the second half of this week, the threat for flooding will not come to an end as rivers continue to rise.
