The rain may have come in contact with coal ash from the Sutton Power Plant.

Duke Energy says 2,000 yards of material was displaced.

The company says site personnel are "managing the situation" and "will proceed with a full repair as weather conditions improve."

Sutton Lake, the cooling pond to support the plant, remains intact and is operating safely.
