FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- More than 10,000 people are expected to have visited the 2018 Cumberland County Fair by the end of the Labor Day weekend.

  • More than 4,500 people came to the fair's opening night, setting a new record.
  • Part of this year's success may be due to the fair's set up.
  • The fair runs through Sept. 9.

This past Friday night, a new record was set for the fair's opening night, as more than 4,500 patrons came out. All of them are keeping business booming for the over 100 vendors at the fair. Part of the reason may be a change in the event's layout this year.

"It's been excellent this year. They've changed things up a little bit this year. They've kind of put it all together closer toward the bottom of the hill," said Charlene Bullard, the co-owner of B and B Outdoors. Her business has been working at the Cumberland County Fair for 25 years.

The fair runs through Sept. 9.

If you'd like to go there for Labor Day, there is an Early Bird Pay One Price Promotion available for patrons. Get there between 1 and 5 p.m. and you pay $10 for admission and an Unlimited Ride wristband. After 5 p.m., the price will be $15 for admission and the Unlimited Ride wristband.

Other promotions happen throughout the week, including on certain nights, discounts for military, emergency first responders and senior citizens.

This the 28th year for the Cumberland County Fair. It is being held at the Crown Agriculture Expo Center near the Crown Coliseum.
