TARBORO, N.C. – A man is dead after an officer-involved shooting in Tarboro Tuesday evening.
- Police shot a man during a burglary call.
- It happened Tuesday evening at a home on North Main Street.
- Tarboro police are asking the SBI to investigate.
It happened around 8:30 p.m. in the 3500 block of North Main Street.
Tarboro Police Chief Jesse Webb said officers were responding to a residential burglary call when they spotted a man near the back door of the home.
An officer fired his gun and hit the man, who died a short time later.
The SBI is now investigating, which is standard procedure.
There's no word yet on the name of the suspect or the officers involved in the shooting.
