RALEIGH, N.C. -- A teenage girl was injured after being hit by a car near Leesville Road in Raleigh late Monday night.

  • Seventeen-year-old girl struck by car.
  • It happened on Leesville Road in Raleigh.
  • No charges expected against driver. 

A group of Leesville High School students were standing in the middle of road around 10:15 p.m. as part of a "school tradition" of painting the road by the school.

When a vehicle approached, the group scattered but the driver was unable to avoid a 17-year-old girl.

The girl was taken to WakeMed with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

No charges are expected to be filed against the driver.
