HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. -- An "officer down" call was made Wednesday evening in Holly Springs that led to an arrest and a scare for people in the Forest Spring community.

  • An officer tried to serve a warrant, but 33-year-old Jamel Mack turned aggressive
  • During that time the officer was not able to get to his radio, but needed back up and made an officer down call
  • The sheriff's office says more charges are expected against Mack

A witness says he watched as more than a dozen cop cars sped down Cypress Hill Lane.

The spokesperson at the Wake County Sheriff's Office says an officer tried to serve a warrant, but 33-year-old Jamel Mack turned aggressive.

During that time the officer was not able to get to his radio, but needed back up.

It was at that time authorities say he put out an "officer down" call.

Witnesses say a large number of patrol cars swarmed the neighborhood and left quickly after.

They say this was a scary situation but they're glad everyone, especially the officers are doing ok.

"This community is a very small community. Everybody is super nice here. It’s a very tight knit community I know a lot of people from my year being here. And I just hate seeing something happen here,” said neighbor Thomas Marchetti.

The sheriff's office says more charges are expected against Mack.
