RALEIGH, N.C. – Raleigh police are investigating after a woman was either pushed or jumped from a car on Capital Boulevard near Wade Avenue just before 2:30 a.m. Wednesday.

  • A woman was found lying unconscious on Capital Blvd around 2:30 Wednesday morning. 
  • A man was seen running from the area. 
  • Police say it doesn't appear an assault occurred.

Part of Capital Boulevard was closed during commute hours Wednesday morning as police investigated. 

The woman has been identified as Yenni Francisco Cruz, 27.

Police announced Wednesday afternoon that they no longer believe an assault happened in this case, but are still investigating.

A short time after this incident an unknown man was seen on surveillance cameras running from the area; it is unclear at this point if was related. 

Cruz was taken to WakeMed where she was last listed in serious condition.

Traffic on the southbound lanes of Capital Boulevard was blocked during much of the morning commute but reopened shortly before 8 a.m.
