DURHAM, N.C. – A woman struck in a Durham hit-and-run who died has now been identified. 

  • Christina Hayes was struck on N.C. Highway 54 late Sunday.
  • Hayes was taken to the hospital where she later died.
  • Police are looking for a 2017 or newer red Honda CRV.

Authorities say it happened just before 10 p.m. Sunday in the 100 block of N.C. Highway 54 in front of a Circle K gas station.

Police say 39-year-old Christina Marie Hayes, of Durham, was struck by an SUV that fled the scene.

Hayes, who was homeless, was taken to the hospital where she later died.

Police say parts recovered from the scene and witness statements indicate that the suspect vehicle is a 2017 or newer red Honda CRV.

The vehicle should have damage to the front grill.

Police are checking nearby businesses to see if they have surveillance video of the incident.
