FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Two homes were struck by lightning on Wednesday, and the families that were living in those homes are looking for a place to stay.

A neighbor who lives near one of those houses in the King's Grant neighborhood described how he and some of his friends helped the people in the house get out safely.

"It was pretty scary. We were on the back porch and we heard it," said Porter Lochner. "We thought nothing of it and we looked over and saw the fire. Like it was unbelievable that that happened."

The weather also caused a power outage along Ramsey Street.

Several traffic signals stayed dark, businesses closed and Methodist University remained closed all day on Thursday.
