HURDLE MILLS, N.C. -- A family in Hurdle Mills is missing their prickly friend. 

  • Thistle the porcupine is missing.
  • She was last seen on Monday.
  • Her owners say she's not dangerous, but cannot survive in the wild. 

Thistle the porcupine went missing out of Orange County on Monday. 

 

 

 She is an African Crested porcupine who has been domesticated her whole life and will not survive in the wild. 

Her owner is asking to community to keep an eye out for her. 

Thistle is not thought to be aggressive unless provoked.

She has a history of befriending dogs, so her owner is warning locals that she may injure them if attacked.
