MORRISVILLE, N.C. - Wake Tech Community College held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday to unveil the school's sixth campus in Research Triangle Park.

  • Ribbon cutting held Tuesday at new campus in Morrisville.
  • This is the school's sixth campus.
  • The second building on Wake Tech's RTP campus is set to break ground in January.

The mission of the new facility is to train today's talent for the high-tech jobs of tomorrow.

Wake Tech President, Dr. Stephen Scott says the land was purchased in 2008, and after ten years of planning including two years of construction, the vision of having a facility adjacent to RTP has become a reality.

The campus is billed as a “next-generation learning environment” that will focus on advanced, highly-technical programs and bring customized workforce training to corporations throughout Wake County.

It will also make degree programs and professional credentialing much more accessible to those in the western part of the county.

“This new campus at RTP is about economic development, highly trained students with highly valued skills.” said Scott. “The demand for IT resources across the state continues to grow dramatically, and this campus is being created to meet that demand.”
