RALEIGH, N.C. -- Long lines continue to plague DMV offices around the Triangle.

  • Many have had to come back on a different day
  • Reasons for long lines include staff vacancies, high schoolers needing a license before school starts and the need for Real ID's
  • Appointments can be made but are being scheduled several months from now

Many people said they have had to come back on a different day to wait in line because the lines have been so long.

The NCDMV Commissioner Torre Jessup says staff vacancies, high schoolers needing a license before school starts and the need for Real ID's are just a couple of reasons for the slow down.

"For those who are willing to travel a little beyond their own community driver's license office may be able to find another line somewhere on the outskirts of the area, the largely populated areas," Jessup said.

Appointments can also be made, but those are also being scheduled several months from now.
