LOUISBURG, N.C. -- Garry Yarborough has been found guilty of first degree murder in the death of his ex-girlfriend.

  • Garry Yarborough is convicted with shooting and killing Tracey Williams in Franklin County in 2015.
  • He's been sentenced to life in prison without parole.
  • Williams had a protective order against Yarborough at the time of her death.

The verdict was delivered Thursday afternoon. He was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Garry Yarborough was on trial for the murder of his ex-girlfriend, Tracey Williams, in Franklin County in July 2015.

Williams had a protective order against Yarborough at the time of her death.

Police say Williams fought back and shot Yarborough in the leg before he fatally shot her at an ATM in Franklinton.

He was also convicted of attempted first-degree murder, first-degree kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, discharging a weapon into occupied property, felonious breaking and entering and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Yarborough has already submitted a notice of appeal.
