RALEIGH, N.C. -- We're told breakfast is the most important part of the day, especially for kids, but what about lunch?

  • The Raleigh Community and Safety Club hosted the event
  • The event gave kids a full meal and free groceries
  • Organizers say the event helped children learn more about nutrition

The Raleigh Community and Safety Club hosted the Summer Groceries event Saturday afternoon.

The event gave kids a full meal, offering Capri Suns, spaghetti, rolls and strawberry shortcake.

Organizers also gave away free groceries to the kids who attended.

"It helps us to give back to the community. It takes a village sometimes to raise a child and provide for a child," said Raleigh resident Rebecca Shelton.

Organizers say the event helped children learn more about nutrition.
