FRANKLIN COUNTY, N.C. -- Kathy Wolf suffers from stage four ovarian cancer but has reason to smile.

  • Wolf has been battling the terminal illness since 2015
  • She was hospitalized and had to skip singer Tim McGraw's concert in Raleigh
  • The country music star filmed his own personal message and sent it to the hospital

Wolf, 64, has been battling the terminal illness since 2015. Last month, she was hospitalized and had to skip singer and actor Tim McGraw's concert in Raleigh. The tickets were a Christmas gift from her husband.

“That particular day I was very ill and couldn't go to the concert,” she said.

Her nurses and doctors at Duke Hospital then filmed a video asking McGraw to give her a shout out. The country music star then filmed his own personal message and sent it back to the hospital.

“Hi Kathy, Sorry to miss you tonight. We just want to send our love to you out from our show tonight. Hope you're doing well,” McGraw said in his video.

Of course, Wolf could barely contained her excitement when she saw it while lying in her hospital bed.

“I couldn't believe it at first. He even said my name.”

Wolf says she wants to use her brief internet fame to bring awareness about ovarian cancer and how it can go undiagnosed. When she found out she had it, the cancer was at stage 4.

“Ovarian cancer is known as the silent killer. Mainly because the symptoms, are symptoms women have all the time,” she said.

Wolf urges people to get genetically tested and know their family history.

“If they find it early enough, they can beat it. If it makes one person, one lady, stop and think then at least it's been worth my journey."

Wolf is now in hospice care at her home in Franklin County. She's surrounded by her family and friends.
