JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. -- A man has been arrested after accidentally shooting a truck driver on I-40 Friday afternoon.

  • A truck driver was accidentally shot while driving on I-40 Friday.
  • Shooter was firing at a target without a backstop.
  • Driver is expected to be okay. 

The Johnston County Sheriff's Office says Colton Barefoot Kinsey, 24, of Benson was shooting at a target without a backstop near I-40. One of his bullets went astray and struck a man driving a tractor trailer.

 

 

 

 

The driver is expected to make a full recovery. 

Kinsey has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
