FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Starting Monday morning, driving on one of Fayetteville's busiest roadways got a little more complicated.

  • Skibo Road is shut down in both directions near Cliffdale.
  • NCDOT suggests drivers take alternate routes.
  • Road expected to reopen Friday.

Skibo Road, near its intersection with Cliffdale Road, is shut down in both directions. That's because there's a railroad crossing, the Aberdeen and Rockfish rail line, that's in need of an upgrade.

The State Department of Transportation suggests that drivers take alternate routes on Cliffdale, Raeford and the All-American Freeway to get around the closed portion of Skibo.

The DOT believes that the repairs will only take four days and that Skibo Road should reopen by late Friday afternoon.

Some businesses along the route are worried their customers will think they are closed due to the construction barriers.
