The first Heat Advisories of 2018 in central North Carolina could be issued next week. High temperatures will soar to the mid and upper 90s for at least the first half of the week. The humidity will make it feel like it is over 100 each afternoon.

Fortunately for any outdoor plans you have this weekend, the hottest weather will not arrive until Monday. Saturday and Sunday will still be quite warm though with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s. There is only a 20 percent chance for an isolated storm each afternoon.

The hottest part of next week is expected from Monday through Wednesday. That is when high temperatures will likely range between 95 and 99 over much of central North Carolina. The heat index could reach as high as 105 or slightly higher.

Anyone that must be outside especially in the afternoons next week is strongly encouraged to take frequent breaks and stay hydrated by drinking water. Heat related illnesses like heat exhaustion and even heat stroke could develop quickly with the expected temperatures.

Afternoon storm chances will return around the middle of next week. Highs in the low 90s are forecast for the end of the week.
