The Center for Disease Control says the national suicide rate is on the rise. More older Americans are choosing to take their own lives, and researchers found that more than half of people who died by suicide did not have a diagnosed mental health condition at the time.

This comes amid the high-profile deaths of designer Kate Spade and chef and TV host Anthony Bourdain.
