Storms were slow to develop, but did start to pop up as the east and west coast sea breeze moved inland. Some of those storms became severe, with gusty wind, frequent lightning, and small hail.

The forecast will be very similar for the rest of the week -- hot with afternoon storms.

After some lingering showers come to an end, the rest of Thursday night will be quiet with partly cloudy skies and warm temperatures. Lows will fall into the mid to low 70s.

Friday will begin like we’ve seen all week, quiet with plenty of sunshine. Temperatures will warm quickly to around 90 degrees.

Showers and storms will develop through the afternoon, with some storms becoming strong.

A similar forecast is expected for our weekend, including Father’s Day on Sunday. Not a washout, but keep in mind the chance for afternoon activity.

Poor surf conditions continue for our Friday, along with an elevated rip current threat.

Tropical Update

In the tropics, an area of low pressure is located in the southern Gulf of Mexico.

This low has a small chance for tropical formation as it moves northwest toward Mexico.

No threat to Florida and the rest of the tropics are quiet at this time.

Hurricane Season continues through Nov. 30.
