Keep an eye on radar Monday afternoon and evening. Scattered storms are likely during that time across North Carolina and some could be quite strong.

Monday's storms will form ahead of a front moving into the state from the north. With warm and humid air over the region, any storm that forms will be capable of producing locally heavy rain and in some cases, frequent lightning. A few of the storms could become severe with damaging wind gusts.

The storms could linger well into the night especially across the Sandhills and southeastern North Carolina. Most of the storms should come to an end by very early Tuesday morning.

Monday's highs will range from the upper 80s in the Triangle to the low 90s in the Sandhills to southeastern North Carolina.
