After seeing a few showers and storms this weekend, it looks like we'll have a better chance for showers and storms as we start the new week.

On both Saturday and Sunday, for the most part, we saw scattered showers with isolated thunderstorms. As we head into Monday, that chance for showers and thunderstorms will increase as a frontal boundary slips into North Carolina from Virginia.

Through the rest of the night, we'll see a chance for evening showers and storms with that chance decreasing into the overnight hours.

The weather will start quiet on Monday morning but by the afternoon, the chance for showers and storms will increase as the cold front moves into the area. There is a chance that a few of these storms could be strong to severe. The greatest severe weather threats would be strong winds, heavy rain and dangerous cloud to ground lightning.

With the front to our south on Tuesday, we are expecting a decrease in rain chances.

In the tropics, all is quiet across the Atlantic Basin at this time.
