DURHAM, N.C. -- Two baby lemurs have been born at the Duke Lemur Center.

  • The twins are named Harriot and Helene.
  • They were born May 6.
  • They are the second set of twins for the parents.

Harriot and Helene, a pair of critically endangered black and white ruffed lemurs, were born last month to mother Halley and her mate, Ravo.

The center says their species of lemurs have a very high risk of becoming extinct.

Black and white ruffed lemurs are native to the rainforests of eastern Madagascar.
