HARRELLS, N.C. -- An anonymous phone call to the family leads to the discovery of a 20-year-old man’s body buried in a shallow grave in Sampson County.

  • Victim's stepfather received phone call saying Jamaris Pridgen was dead.
  • Body was found in shallow grave off of Wilber Pridgen Road.
  • No charges have been filed.

The body of Jamaris Pridgen was found around 9 p.m. Saturday in a wooded area off Wilber Pridgen Road.

Pridgen’s stepfather got the call Saturday morning.

The caller vaguely said Pridgen was dead and his body was somewhere in Sampson County.

The cause of death has not been determined but investigators say they have a person of interest in the case.

No charges have been filed at last report.
