June 1 is classified as the start of meteorological summer and it sure felt like summer on Friday with many locations seeing afternoon highs well above average.

  • Small chance of showers overnight
  • Another warm day for Saturday
  • No tropical developments anticipated for the next few days

We will see another very warm day for the second day of June on Saturday.

Through the rest of the night, there is a small chance for a few showers and isolated thunderstorms with drier weather expected overnight.

By Saturday, a cold front will drop into North Caroline from the north.  This will give the area the chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms.  This front will linger near the state on Sunday and we'll see a few more showers and storms as we wrap-up the weekend.  Though the weekend, does not look like a wash-out, you may have to dodge a shower or a storm if you have outdoor activities planned.

A drier weather pattern is forecast to develop by the early part of next week.

Today marks the official start of the 2018 Atlantic Basin Tropical Season.  At this time, no tropical development is anticipated in the next three to five days.
