As Alberto heads through the Gulf of Mexico, our rain chances will be going up. The good news is many models are trending drier for Sunday afternoon and evening. If that verifies, we just might get the Coca Cola 600 in without too much trouble. We will see. The heavy rain threat from Alberto moves in Sunday night and Memorial Day. Alberto will make landfall late Monday night in the central Gulf Coast region then slowly move north for a few days. With the remnants of Alberto lingering to our west, tropical rains will remain possible for us through Thursday with 2 to 3 inches of rain or even more likely. Flooding will be the main threat. We will trend drier and hotter by next weekend.
