CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Medic has confirmed a person fell from a building in uptown Charlotte and was killed Wednesday afternoon.

The incident happened just before 4 p.m. at South Tryon Street. According to the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department, 24-year-old Juventino Mata-Hernandez, a construction worker, fell from the building. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives from the department's homicide unit and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are investigating and interviewing witnesses.
