CHAPEL HILL, N.C.-- Now that school is out for the summer at UNC, contractors can get to work.

  • The university has launched several summer construction projects.
  • Two of the projects include replacing the infrastructure and brick sidewalk at “The Pit” and renovating the Kenan science labs.
  • The university even launched a website to help people navigate around campus.

The university has launched several summer construction projects. Summer school students are proceeding with caution.

“I know it's for the betterment of the campus, but it's kind of sad because I was so excited to see the campus quiet and beautiful and so now it's kind of in shambles,” says student Carolina Alzate.

“You know navigating efficiently, effectively, just trying to you know avoid the sites that are really kind of packed with construction,” adds student Shane Sarin.

Two of the projects include replacing the infrastructure and brick sidewalk at “The Pit” and renovating the Kenan science labs.

“I mean it doesn't extremely get on my nerves unless I'm driving. So if I'm driving, I'll probably just get upset,” says student Griffin Deadwick.

The university even launched a website to help people navigate around campus. Many projects are set to wrap in August.
