RALEIGH, N.C. -- A Raleigh church has packed more than a million meals for Rise Against Hunger, which distributes meals to people in need across the nation.

  • More thank 80,000 meals packed on Sunday alone
  • Asbury United Methodist is the sixth organization to surpass one millionth mark
  • Most meals will end up in Haiti

Asbury United Methodist Church passed the milestone on Sunday with Rise Against Hunger officials in attendance. Volunteers packed more than 80,000 meals on Sunday alone.

The church is only the sixth organization to surpass the one million meals barrier. Asbury Church lead pastor Tom Newman says it's a reminder to keep their service going.

"We're not done," said Newman. "This is an important milestone, but it's only a stepping stone towards 2 million, 10 million...there's no telling what's next. We're already planning that next step."

Most of the meals packed by Asbury Church will end up in Haiti.
