CLAYTON, N.C. -- A crash in Clayton claimed the life of an 8-year old girl.

• Traffic was backed up at the time of the crash.
• Identity of child killed not released yet.
• Girl's father and sister injured.

It happened Wednesday morning on N.C. Highway 42 near Woodbury Drive.

Authorities say traffic was backed up at the time and the girl's father swerved his vehicle to the right.

It went down an embankment, hit a tree stump and then flipped.

Authorities say the father and the girl's sister, who was also in the car, were both injured.
