The weather will likely play a role in Wednesday's teachers rally in Raleigh. Off and on rain is expected around the region in the morning and during the afternoon.

While there will be periods of dry weather in Raleigh Wednesday, downpours will be possible at other times. Lightning could also be a concern especially during the afternoon hours.

The threat for severe weather appears low at this time, but an isolated storm or two could produce gusty winds in addition to the localized downpours.

Anyone traveling to Raleigh Wednesday from across the state will see similar weather conditions.

Wednesday's off and on rain across North Carolina is just the start of an unsettled weather pattern that could last into next week. Off and on showers and thunderstorms are likely every day through at least Monday or Tuesday. During that time, most the state will see at least two to four inches of rain. Locally higher amounts will be possible especially near the mountains and along the coast.
