RALEIGH -- The North Carolina Republican Party is pairing with Wake GOP to provide parents with a free activity on May 16th.

  • NC Republicans and Wake GOP hosting free event in Raleigh on May 16.
  • Event at CocoNut Charlie's Bounce-n-Bump 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.
  • May 16 is the day teachers are expected to rally at the State Capitol

On that day several school districts are closed in light of the teacher protest at the General Assembly on that day.

The free event will take place at Coconut Charlie's Bounce-n-Bump on Six Forks Road in Raleigh.

Organizers say they hope it will give parents an alternative activity since kids are out of school.

"It's not a perfect solution," says Dallas Woodhouse, executive director of NCGOP. "It's similar to the problem that the parents are out there focusing on and this came up because I had to figure out what to do with my kids."

Parents must register to attend the free event.
