NORTH CAROLINA -- Mark Harris is the Republican candidate for North Carolina’s District 9.

Back in 2016, Robert Pittenger and Rev. Mark Harris ran against each other for the District 9 seat. Pittenger defeated him by 134 votes. This time around Harris took the race by a little more than 800 votes.

 

Harris will face Dan McCready (D) for the congressional seat in November. 

District 9 includes southern Mecklenburg County, all of Union, Anson, Richmond, Scotland and Robeson counties along with large amounts of Cumberland and Bladen counties.

About Mark Harris

Rev. Mark Harris is a native of Winston-Salem and has been in ministry since the late 1980s serving in different leadership roles. He graduated from Appalachian State University with a bachelor's degree in political science. He later earned his Master of Divinity and doctor or ministry degree in Christian leadership from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest. He resides in Charlotte with his wife and kids.
