With more people having technology at their fingertips, the Geographical Information Services department created an application where people can find food pantries, WIC and SNAP locations, the local farmers markets and places to get a free meal.

"With such a transient community, and with more people needing help these days, this application gives them the ability to enter in their address and see what resources are near them,” said Angelia Hagopian, GIS specialist for Onslow County. “If you don't have a car, you may not know that you may have a food pantry only three blocks from your home that you can walk to and get a bag of groceries and feed your family.”

Onslow Community Outreach says about 1,900 people rely on their soup kitchen alone.
