Barrett's heartbroken mother tells us she's not surprised at the charges. She says Little has made threatening comments about her daughter before and made it clear he didn't want this baby.

"The pain you caused my child, I want you to feel that every day for the rest of your life that you have here on this earth. I pray that he feels it 10 times more than I felt it," the victim mother, Ebony Gomez, says.

Police say Brian Little had no criminal history before these murder charges. He's being held in the Moore County detention center with no bond.

A member of Barrett's family told Spectrum News that Little was the father of the deceased baby and that police told them Barrett was shot in the back of the head.

Barrett's body was discovered in a car in a wooded area near South Gaines Street on Sunday.

At last check, Little remained in jail at the Moore County Detention Center in Carthage. He's being held without bond.

His first scheduled court appearance is April 24.
