CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The City of Charlotte is trying to help teenagers jump start their careers.

Mayor Vi Lyles announced the addition of 250 internships, that's about double what was previously offered. The program helps students connect with career training and job opportunities with companies in the Queen City.

City officials say it helps equip students for their future careers.

The mayor's youth employment program began back in 1986.
