ROCKINGHAM COUNTY -- The 10-week program teaches fifth graders to avoid drugs, alcohol, and violent behavior.

Beginning next year, the lessons will include opioid education.

"We're going to start teaching the kids about opioids. Tell them where they come from, they're actually medications as far as prescription drugs. They're going to learn all of this. And they're going to learn the difference between what is the prescription drug and what are the over-the-counter meds," said Officer Daniel Velazquez, South End Elementary Schools’ D.A.R.E. instructor.

The opioid content is already on the D.A.R.E. website you can access it here.
