RALEIGH – The final remaining original Interstate 40 ramp in the Fortify work zone will be rebuilt this weekend.

Beginning Thursday evening, the Gorman Street ramp to I-40 eastbound will be closed. It will reopen by 5 a.m. on Monday.

During the closure, drivers who normally use the Gorman Street ramp to get to I-40 eastbound have two options:

1. Head east on Tryon Road and turn left at Lake Wheeler Road.

2. From Gorman Street, head to Centennial Parkway, then turn right at Lake Wheeler Road by the State Farmers Market.

NCDOT reminds drivers that the work zone speed limit remains at 60 mph.
