EDGECOMBE COUNTY, N.C. – Funeral arrangements have been announced for an Edgecombe County Sheriff’s deputy killed in the line of duty.

Deputy David Manning, 24, was killed in a crash Sunday near Tarboro.

While pursuing a vehicle south on N.C. 111, Manning lost control on a curve and hit an oncoming pickup truck. 

A viewing will be held on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hemby-Willoughby funeral home. The address is 1800 Western Boulevard in Tarboro.

Manning’s funeral will be held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. in the Keihin Auditorium at Edgecombe Community College located at 2009 West Wilson Street in Tarboro. 

Burial will follow in the Pineview Cemetery in Pinetops.

Manning is survived by his parents, a fiancé, a daughter and other family members.
