GREENVILLE, N.C. -- A fraternity at East Carolina University has been closed by its national organization as a result of an investigation.

The Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity was closed because, in a release, ECU says members weren't following the terms of redevelopment plan created as a result of a prior deferred suspension.

The school further said any ECU investigations into individual behaviors will continue and are not impacted by the chapter closing.

The effective date for the closure was Feb. 23 and will last four years.
